Green Routes


The area has many green routes, ideal for walking, cycling and horseriding. You can choose between a wide range of paths with different levels of difficulty and length, but all leading to the discovery of nature and of the many historical and artistic attractions of the area. Below you will find a brief description of some of these routes, more or less famous but all charming and interesting.

Via Salaria
The Salaria is the ancient salt road which connected the salt mines of Volterra to Florence. Through the Via Salaria – a nature trail rich in breathtaking landscapes – it’s possible to reach the ancient city of Volterra on foot.

Wine & Olive Oil tasting
At Villa La Sciolta you will have the opportunity to taste our extra virgin olive oil and – from mid-October to the end of December – to visit the oil mills, where you will see the new production and taste the new oil. You will also have the chance to taste wine directly on the spot and in the various cellars of the Chianti area, together with the local specialties that will delight your palate.
